You can import data from external applications saved in Excel format. Alternatively, you can enter data directly into a spreadsheet created in Excel, and then import that information. Before importing data, create one or more output files for products such as QuickBooks (Desktop), QuickBooks Online, or Peachtree, Creative Solutions, or Accounting CS in a format the system can recognize. Once your output files are ready, you can use the Integration>Standard Import screen to import information such as accounts, beginning balances, employees, customers, vendors, product lists, departments, and transactions by period.
When importing an Excel spreadsheet, click Template from the action bar on the Integration>Standard Import screen to use a properly-formatted spreadsheet. To ensure that the data you enter is imported correctly, replace the sample data in the template with your own data but do not change the column headings. You can save a copy of the template for reference. Save the file in either .XLS or .CSV format.
Important! Be aware that any template you import must contain the headers of the pre-formatted template in order for the imported data to be recognized. If you use the pre-formatted template, do not alter or delete any of the column headings.
To import data from Excel files:
Prepare the output files in the appropriate program if you are importing from products such as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, or Peachtree. Creative Solutions, or Accounting CS.
Select the radio button, Setup or Transaction, to indicate the type of data you are importing.
Use the drop-down list in the Source File Type field to specify the source of the Excel file you are importing.
If you are importing setup data, select the items to import.
If you are importing transaction data, select the transaction dates. The date range must exactly match the date range of the transactions in the export file you prepared.
If you are using a pre-formatted template or editing a saved template, click Template from the action bar. Replace the sample data with your own data.
To import data, click Import
from the action bar. Select the output file from the external applications
saved in Excel format, or the pre-formatted template you saved with
your data.
Note: For transactions information,
the system verifies whether the volume of data you are importing is
within a safe limit for a single transfer (about 5000 transactions).
If not, create another export file using a smaller date range and
import in more than one pass.
Verify the data when the import process finishes.
We strongly recommend that you access the relevant screens to verify
all data imported correctly and to add any other necessary information,
such as vendor default account numbers.
