QuickBooks (Desktop) Export Files

You can import QuickBooks (Desktop version) data using the Import from Excel method if you are unable to import the data using the AccountingLink utility.

For example, if QuickBooks is installed on a server, not on the local computer on which the AccountingLink utility is installed, you can use this method to create Excel spreadsheets to import.

You can import setup data and transactions using this method.

§        Setup Data: To export setup data, select the following from Reports, List and then select Export to export the following setup information to an Excel spreadsheet:

§        Account Listing to export accounts.

§        Employee Contact List to export employees.

§        Customer Contact List to export customers.

§        Vendor Contact List to export vendors.

§        Item Price List to export products.

§        Transactions: To export transactions, run the Custom Transaction Detail report for the target client. You must select the date range for the report from the Modify Report dialog, uncheck Splits, and, for cash method clients, uncheck Original Amount.

In addition, ensure that the following options are checked: Type, Date, Num, Memo, Account, Clr, Debit, Credit, and Balance.

Note: The import process adds to existing transactions (rather than replacing them). To avoid duplicates, verify the dates you are importing. After the process completes, access the relevant screens to ensure the data arrived correctly.
